I appreciate finding out about the PrintSelection Service more than I do the drag-to-Dock hint! Thanks! --- Doug's AppleScripts for iTunes http://www.dougscripts.com/itunes/
I tried the suggestion by Robert Chin -- go to toplevel /Library/Services. The problem is - I can't find Services under Library!?! Am I looking in the right place -under the Macintosh HD? I can find Services in Firefox, but under TextEdit, the rest of the menu are greyed out. And so is the Print Selected Text Only within the Print menu. Any suggestion?
Thanks for your 'counter-hint' ;-) Can this be set up as a keystroke without the multiple dialogs and so many mouse movements? That would be a very helpful hint. --- ----- Two things in this world aren't overrated: Macintosh and Lemon Meringue Pie.
Thanks! This is better than the original hint for me, some one who doesn't like to install anything unless necessary.
Print Selection is grayed out in my dialog box. I'm using Firefox 1.5 with Mac OS 10.3.9. Any suggestions?
Download Print Selection Service For Mac Free
Please note that there are two Print Selection services 1. Print Selection Service 1.0 by Schubert|it <http://www.schubert-it.com/download/> 2. Print Selection 1.0 by Robert Chin <http://www.osiris.laya.com/> I found out that I have both installed on my system, however only one appears in my services menu. Anyone knows how to find out out which one?
Spotlight search? Open your hard disk folder and look in the Services Folder in both your User Library and the main Library Folder? Use the free and wonderful EasyFind from DEVONtechnology?Use Locate, also free? I recommend getting acquainted with one's folder structure/directories. Set the view to Columns and learn what's where. It's often the easiest way to accomplish things. Most users will want to stay out of System, and you are allowed to go in Library just this once <gr>. If y ou're nervous about the wreckage left behind, Repair Permissions afterward, but trust me, especially in your own directory, you can peek at anything you want.
What 'wreckage'? Viewing files/folders doesn't change their permissions!
To answer your question (sort of), physics: • Open the /Library/Services folder • Print Selection.service is the Schubert version • PrintSelection.services is the Chin version • Delete the one you don't want to use • Logout/login to rebuild Services menus By checking the menu entry after doing that you'd be able to tell which one was active when you had both installed unless their menu entries look identical. If you don't like they version that's installed just delete it and install the other. I don't have any recommendation since I haven't used either but the Schubert version has a cleaner installer package (e.g. installs directly into /Library/Services).
Woah! Does this work with any service? If so, then the applications are endless, especially with Word.
I have been trying to find a way to print selected text since I first changed to the Mac two years ago. It has been incredibly frustrating. The combination of discovering Mr. Chin's 'Print Selection' and baryjaylevine's 'hint' has made this a very successful browsing day. Thank you. TDM
IT appears to no longer work in Leopard.
